When I was a teenager growing up in NJ in the 1990's there was a Heavy Metal radio show on 89.1 WNYU that played Black Metal and all the sub genres within. I wish remembered the host's name, but she introduced me to countless bands like Ulver, Dark Throne, Emperor, Naglfar, and one of my all time favorites At the Gates. Since this was before streaming and having all music on the internet, we had to wait each week to hear whatever she had in store for us. We would take a bus to Manhattan and try to hunt down the cd's at Generation Records in the village or Kims Video & Music on St. Marks. Not only did we love the music, the album art, we loved the hunt itself for the music like explorers looking for lost treasure. Black Metal fonts have long since been absorbed into popular culture and this t-shirt is an homage to my love for the music.
